All eyes are on London as Prince William ties the knot with Kate Middleton this coming week. Hotels are booked for those who want to do some royal spotting. No one can deny that a London holiday means expensive London hotels but did you know that you have a ton of options when it comes to free things to do in London. Here are some of the best London attractions that you can enjoy for free:
Museum of London
A lot of travelers missed the Museum of London but it is another great London attractions. You will have a good idea of how the city evolved from the geology around the Thames through the Anglo-Saxons and through the important events of the recent past.
Borough Market
This is the place to be if you are food lover who wants to enjoy the flavors of the city. Borough Market has been there since the thirteenth century and is among the best free destinations in this expensive city. Borough Market is open every Thursday through Saturday. Visit the market for some grab and go food on Saturdays and you will witness the liveliest market scene in London.
Houses of Parliament
You need to reserve a seat if you want to witness the sessions of the Parliament. This old building is home to the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
British Museum
It is among the best London museum and believe it or not, you can enter the British Museum for free. The museum also offers free eyeOpener tours so you can see their most amazing collections. National Gallery
See the classic works of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Renoir, and Van Gogh inside this building in Trafalgar Square. It can get pretty crowded during the weekday mornings so make sure you time your visit during the off peak hours, anyway it is for free.
National Maritime Museum
If you are into seafaring, then this is the place to be in London. Go deep into the history of London’s famous mariners and boats. If you are visiting London with kids, there are also a lot of activities they can engage on in this maritime museum.
St. Paul’s Church
This church is different from the St. Paul’s Cathedral which requires a ticket to visit. The church is the actor’s church found on the western portion of the Covent Garden Piazza. You can find memorabilias of Charlie Chaplin and other famous artists in this London destination.
Wallace Collection
This is a small gallery which gives you a peek into aristocratic life during the 18th century. It is a restored mansion filled with art works from the 17th through 18t century.
